Original Radio and Podcast Branding
We started MCASSO in 1979 and in 1982 we made our first foray into RADIO BRANDING with a commercial theme for RENAULT LONDON's 'No-one knows Renault like us', which became a staple on UK airwaves for a remarkable 25 years.
Throughout the 1980s and 1990s Mcasso established ourselves as a trusted name in UK Broadcast Composition and Sound Design across both Television and Radio creating well known audio identities including AUTOTRADER, KELLOGG'S, SAAB and many, many more.
We also began to create station identities. In 2002 we designed BBC RADIO 7's sonic identity which won the Sony Radio Academy Award For Station Sound in 2003.
In 2010 we won the pitch to brand the full 40-station BBC LOCAL RADIO network creating 1,000s of idents, a collaboration which continued through two branding cycles until 2020.
The 2010s saw us creating original showopeners for many BBC RADIO 4 programmes alongside a full rebrand of BBC RADIO 4 EXTRA and 2017 saw the launch of Mcasso’s BBC WORLD SERVICE station sound which reaches 318 million listeners around the world every week.
The 2010s also saw the coming of age and mainstream adoption of Podcasting. Mcasso was quick to embrace the new medium and we have since created themes and sonic identities for dozens of well known BBC, Commercial and Independent Podcasts. Perhaps our most significant contribution to the world of on-demand audio so far is designing the BBC SOUNDS “Heartbeat” in 2018, a sonic logo which can be heard across the BBC’s output and which remains integral to the platform's identity today.
RADIO AND AUDIO BRANDING has been an ever present and essential part of Mcasso’s offering throughout our 46 year history, it’s been a privilege to be a fixture of the daily audio landscape of so many millions of Radio and Podcast listeners for nearly half a century and to be trusted by each new generation of Radio Makers as they strive to build the best stations possible.
2025 is the start of another new chapter in Mcasso’s radio story. In the coming weeks and months I’m excited to share news of work which has already begun with commercial broadcasters in international territories around the world.
